2000) – Strategic
Concepts, Inc., industry leader in transportation management systems has
just released its new interface to Motient Corporation’s ADV monitor
package. This new interface
allows Strategy5 users to download daily state line crossing odometer
readings, driver and vehicle performance statistics and vehicle fault codes
monitoring.
Automatic
State Line Monitoring
The
ADV Monitor interface takes Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) tracking one
step further. It automatically collects data on state line crossing events
and transmits it directly to your central operations. It frees drivers from
many daily-reporting requirements.
The
on-board computer communicates the following to a main computer system:
- Driver
ID
- Truck
ID
- Date/time
- Odometer
reading
- Position
report (longitude and latitude)
- New
state
Driver
Performance Monitoring
With
the ADV Monitor interface, dispatchers have complete driver performance
information on a daily basis, ensuring adherence to company standards and
streamlining performance reports. Daily, weekly and monthly summary reports
can be generated for each driver, vehicle, and fleet, giving you the
information you need to perform trend analyses and comparison studies.
During
each 24-hour period, the following is transmitted:
- Date
- Driver
ID
- Vehicle
ID
- Hours
and miles driven
- Odometer
reading
- Raw
data of overspeed hours
- Raw
data of idle hours
- Miles
per gallon
Vehicle
Fault Code Monitoring
The
industry-standard J1708 data bus, contained within a vehicle, includes a
wealth of information that once could not be accessed while the vehicle was
operating. With the ADV Monitor's Vehicle Fault Code Monitor, fault
conditions are detected and immediately reported back to the dispatcher.
The
monitor observes 25 J1708 parameters. If the ADV Monitor detects a fault, it
initiates an urgent message to the dispatch office before irreversible
damage to the vehicle occurs. The ADV Monitor eliminates unnecessary alerts
by allowing you to set a filter time. This filter time helps ensure that the
fault is a constant or recurring condition that requires attention and not
simply a one-time, harmless disruption.
Vehicle
Fault Code Monitoring observes 25 J1708 parameters, including:

position sensor
- Boost
pressure sensor
- Oil
pressure sensor

temperature sensor
- Intake
air temperature sensor

air pressure sensor

speed (RPM) sensor
